A program to provide spectacles for near vision needs for the low-income visually impaired community was held at the Nildhandahinna Divisional Secretariat on 25.12.2024. 788 beneficiaries participated in this program, which was organized by the National Secretariat for Persons with Disabilities.

The National Program to celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities was held on 03.12.2024 at the Polhena Beach in Matara, with the aim of promoting tourism by improving accessibility for persons with disabilities under the theme "Expanding their leadership for an inclusive sustainable future". The event was attended by the Secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development, Community Safety and Social Empowerment, staff officers and other officers, officers of the Matara District Secretariat, persons with disabilities and other invited guests. A number of recreational programs were organized for persons with disabilities on that day.

Under the theme "Actively united to achieve sustainable development goals for, with 
and by persons with disabilities" was held in Kandy on 03.12.2023 under the chairmanship of the Minister 
of State for Social Empowerment Honorable Anupa Paskuval.The Secretary of the Ministry of Women, Child Affairs and Social 
Empowerment, the Director of the National Secretariat for Persons with Disabilities and other officials participated in this.
Also, 100 people with disabilities from home and abroad 
also participated.Traveled by train from Colombo Fort railway station to Kandy and visited Dalada Maliga and 
received blessings. After that, the group was taken to visit the Peradeniya Botanical Garden. 
Here entertainment programs were held for handicapped children of Vattegama Vocational Training Institute.
